The Balquhidder Ash

The Balquhidder Ash was a magnificent and shapely ash tree situated on the banks of Loch Doine in the Trossachs. I have studied and enjoyed photographing this tree for over 30 years but sadly it is no longer with us. In the years In have photographed thistree, I never once saw another photograph of it or another photographer in the area, which is a very rare thing since the introduction of digital cameras and boom in landscape photography. It is no surprise really, as the area is not well known for phoptograpphy and the tree itself is well hidden from paths and roads, only coming into view when going off the beaten track or by boat. On that basis and to the best of my knowledge, I may be the only photographer ever to have captured this tree in this stunning setting – so you are buying something truly unique. (it’s also the front cover of my treescapes book.)
